With public transport in Victoria being free for the moment, now is a great time to escape to Melbourne for the weekend and we have the perfect place.
HM Prison Pentridge B Division has been redesigned to a fabulous unique hotel, with each suite being made up of four original cells behind an original cell door.
We had such unique and interesting weekend at The Interlude Pentridge – locked up in luxury.
Our group began the stay with a H Division tour for 1 ½ hours and learnt all about the history of the 176 year old building and notorious prisoners that called it home. It was confronting but extremely interesting.
Then there was time to explore the hotel, which is steeped with history, but now with an amazing indoor pool at a relaxing 30 degrees. Evening drinks at the Olivine wine bar in a private cell with great service was also a highlight. Dinner was fun and casual at the Brew Dog inside the Pentridge complex at the repurposed old visiting yards of the prison.
All reports were a great night of sleep and no ghosts if you were wondering. It was an interesting yet thoroughly enjoyable weekend away.
