I have recently returned from Europe with my daughter Sophie.
Our first stop was Paris, before joining an AMA Waterways river cruise from Luxemburg to Nuremberg, we then travelled to Prague and Salzburg before flying home from Munich.
We had a fabulous time in Paris visiting iconic attractions including The Eiffel Tower, with skip the line tickets to the summit. One of the highlights climbing to the top of The Arc de Triumph to watch the sunset over the city and see the Eiffel Tower sparkle as night fell.
Another highlight was the Chocolate and Pastry Walking Tour, where our local guide led us through sweet history, stopping at the oldest chocolate shop and the very first pastry shop in Paris. Visiting Versailles was equally unforgettable. Our small group tour included exclusive access to the King's Private Apartments—an area of the palace normally closed to the public, making the experience even more special.

Leaving Paris, we travelled to Luxembourg, where we boarded the AmaPrima for the Europe’s Rivers & Castles 7 night river cruise. Our journey took us through the heart of Germany, cruising along the picturesque Moselle, Rhine, and Main Rivers, as well as the historic Main-Danube Canal.
A river cruise is the perfect addition to any European itinerary, offering an ideal balance of immersive sightseeing and well-deserved relaxation. Sailing through charming towns and scenic landscapes the cruise offered a range of shore excursions to suit every interest—from adventures like bike rides and hikes to more relaxed experiences, including wine tasting at a local vineyard. There was truly something for everyone, making each day on and off the ship both memorable and unique.
Our next stop was the beautiful city of Prague with stunning architecture and a rich history, where we stayed at the Almanac X Alcron Prague, a Virtuoso Hotel. Exploring Prague we used the historical #42 tram, a fun and unique alternative to the typical hop-on hop-off buses or local transport.
With our trip coming to an end we had one last bucket list item to tick off, The Original Sound of Music tour in Salzburg! The tour took us to many of the iconic filming locations from the movie, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Austrian Alps.
A truly unforgettable European adventure.
